Spartans celebrate FFA Week

The week of February 18th-24th is FFA Week. This is a whole dedicated to the agriculture around the whole nation. There are 7,500 chapters across the nation and Greeley West has 340 kids in the FFA program. This is a way for FFA kids to get involved in the whole world around agriculture and celebrate multiple parts of the FFA history, traditions, and advances in things like technology. It is also celebrating the founding fathers of the FFA.

The main idea that is supposed to be celebrated is the Smith Hugh’s Act. This is the act that led schools across America to be able to teach and let kids be a part of FFA in school. Without this act schools would not be allowed to teach and have the FFA program being used in schools.

The week started off on Saturday and Sunday with a hamburger feed and chili cool off at the Tractor Supply from 9 -2 p.m. The rest of the schedule is during the school days and ends with a volunteer day. On Monday it is a dress official and get scholarship donations around the school. Tuesday is camo and orange day. Wednesday is blue and gold day. Thursday is where does my cheeseburger come from. Friday is the petting zoo and FFA t-shirt day. The final day is for the FFA kids to get some volunteer work in by doing a west and park clean up.

Schools all across America are celebrating this week and the Spartans FFA kids are getting into this week in a great way. Trey Flores said, “This week is great and it’s the best week of school. It gets us involved around the school and its fun celebrating agriculture.”
