Brackets bring excitement to West

It’s the middle of March again and that means things around West get serious. Arguably the most exciting event in sports is happening and that is the NCAA Basketball Division 1 tournament famously nicknamed as “March Madness”.

If you don’t already know what it is, it’s where 68 of the best teams from around the country meet to battle till the end because their season is over if you lose. In result of that a majority of students at West are filling out what teams they think will win what game and at the end they pick a winner. This event brings a lot of excitement to the building and some students are lucky enough to have teachers that will put a game on during class to watch.

Sophomore Alex Holguin was asked why he enjoys this event and how he sees it all unfolding this year. “I like March mMdness because it gives me an excuse to be competitive with my friends and get to talk trash to them if my bracket is better than theirs. But this year I have North Carolina winning it all because last year they got upset at the buzzer by Villanova they just have more motivation than anyone to win this year,” Holguin said.
