This year Greeley West Poms team has expanded with tryouts at the beginning of April.  Next year’s team will feature 17 students, up from 12 this year.

They had an extremely large turnout for the clinics with lots of girls and some boys eager to learn what the Poms are all about. On the first day of clinics they stretch a lot and go through the normal workout so newcomers get the feel of it. On the second day of clinics, they learn a dance that they will use at tryouts. On Day Three, they perform the dance and improve it. After the clinic tryouts come.

With the new team, Ms. Peggy Freemole, the Pom director, stated that this year is very exciting. With a lot of new talent from the incoming freshman class all coming from different schools in Greeley/Evans area, with four former cheerleaders that have experience but not a lot of dance experience, and the talent of the eight veterans returning, they have a lot to look forward too and a lot to work on.

Freemole said, “I’m always very excited at this time of year to see a new team come together, learning new skills and preparing to make history as the Greeley West Poms.”

With the new season ahead the high school students have started practicing and the incoming freshman will start practicing with the high school students after May 15. This summer they look forward to going to camp in July and improving their skills to get ready for state and nationals.
