Musical groups give final performance

Last week the band, orchestra, and choir had their last concerts of the year.

The first night of concerts was Tuesday May 9 where the band had their senior farewell concert. The jazz band opened up the concert, followed by a couple small groups that performed together. They call them the small ensembles which are flute and clarinet groups who meet in the morning twice a week before school starts in order to prepare for this. Then the whole band performed three pieces and then a four piece with a combined group. Followed by the performance they have a senior slide show that showcases the seniors and each senior shares their favorite band memory. The band also give Mr. Chet Arthur a gift as a way to say thank you.

The second night was the orchestra concert on Wednesday May 10. They played three pieces. Then they had a slideshow to recognize the seniors. Each slide was a different senior with a baby picture, a middle picture and then their graduating picture with a quote that they got to pick. The seniors also played a song that was just them. Following was a slideshow from their trip in Florida.

The last night was the choir concert on Thursday May 11. That night all five choirs performed. This was another sad night as for they have 16 seniors graduating.

One senior Emmy Coleman got the National Choral Award. Coleman stated, ā€œIā€™m grateful that I was able to receive the National Choral Award which reflects on my dedication to the choir program.ā€
