The Greeley West Girls tennis beat Greeley Central in a dominant 6-1 victory. The win Wednesday night made six straight wins for the Spartans against their cross-town rival .

West won six of their seven matches. The Spartans’ only loss came from the No. 3 singles spot. Jessica Trecek is a junior and this is her second year competing at the position. Trecek put up a good fight, but ended up losing 4-6 4-6.

On the other hand, most of the wins for the Spartans came extremely easy, each in two sets.

The most competitive match of the night came from the No. 2 singles position, senior Alyssa Rodello. This is Rodello’s second year competing at the  position and her match  went to two tiebreakers. Rodello won the first set 7-6 (8-6) and the second set 7-6 (7-5).

“This was a really big win for the team. Beating our cross-town rival always feels good and it gives us some positive momentum heading into our next match, “Rodello stated.

The girls tennis team takes on Holy Family on March 20. This will be their first home match of the year and the first girls tennis match on the new courts that were added this summer.
