Let’s leave Zoom bombing behind, work on finishing classes

There’s a new trend in classrooms across the country and Greeley West is no different:  Zoom bombs.  Recent  may seem like a chance to get a good laugh, but what happens when the Zoom bomber begins cursing out your teacher, or threatening them through a screen with 20-30 other students listening as well?

Recently I experienced a Zoom bomb while in Mr.Torrez’s College Algebra class.  First off, this class is important and I need as much time in class as I can get.  Then, the Zoom bomber was cursing Mr. Torrez out and drawing inappropriate images on the shared screen. This lasted a good 5-7 minutes because it was difficult to figure out who the Zoom bomber was as there were also 40 other kids in the class.

Many students say that Zoom bombing is one of the best parts of class saying it’s “good entertainment,” but what about when these ZOOM bombers become overly aggressive and begin threatening the teachers? What about when the Zoom bomber is able to hack the teachers? Will it still be funny then?

It has no doubt been difficult enough for teachers to switch to complete online for the time being, especially those who struggle with technology as it is.  Now they have to face another problem that is beyond their control. Considering the fact that teachers have had to condense a whole semester into just eight short weeks causes for time to be limited, students should be more appreciate of these teachers.  Students need to act mature and stop this practice for both the safety of the teacher and other students, but also so education can continue as best as it can.
