Students who have a passion for music or enjoy working with technology revolving around that industry are encouraged to apply to be Greeley West’s Homecoming DJ. The Student Council has opened up auditions to students in hopes to bring better music to the fall dance.
Student Council and administration are aware that there is not much time before Homecoming, so they encourage any students interested to apply for the gig. Students are required to be willing to learn and committed to the process of acquiring necessary skills for the job. Assistant Principal Ms. Amanda Weis said, “If you’re interested and you’re committed, we can teach you.”
Along with the rest of the administration, Weis thinks this is a great opportunity to showcase the gifted students at Greeley West. “I know that we have talented humans in this building. Why wouldn’t we just use what we have and highlight those talents?” Weis said.
This opportunity for Spartan students provides a chance for the music to be updated at this year’s Homecoming. Weis pointed out, “The music is hands down, number one, the thing everyone complains about.”
This is Greeley West’s chance to greatly improve the students’ experience at the dance. Everyone knows that good music leads to a good time. Junior Fatima Lone mentioned, “The DJ plays a significant role in Homecoming because if they’re bad, it makes the dance a bore.”
This is an incredible opportunity to show off your unique skills and improve every students’ night. Student Council Committee Chairmen and junior Camden Cooney saide, “I feel that the choice to not hire a professional DJ this year is a great opportunity to have better student feedback about the music played.”
Lone added, “It makes me more inclined to go to HOCO because a high schooler has a better grasp of what kids want to hear.”
