IB juniors at Greeley West High School attended their required Group 4 project up in the mountains at the YMCA. There are 26 juniors left in the IB class and they stayed the night in cabins for two days in order to produce their Group 4 project.

Prior to their field trip, the students were given project groups with approximately two students from every science class, chemistry, physics, and biology. Each group was also given a topic: earth, wind, water, fire, or magic.

Within their groups, the students had to construct a project including all three subjects of science. With the data they received, the students will continue their research and experimentation until their presentation date, which is at the beginning of December.

Besides the project, the Group 4 field trip was a way for the junior IB class to have team bonding. In their free time, they played games, got to know one another, and learn how to work together.

arscott-meganIB junior Megan Arscott know sthe importance of this project. “It is important because it teaches you how to work together as a group and to better understand the connections between each science course. I learned that is really important to be prepared because when you go through your research process, you only have a certain amount of time, and you must manage you time wisely,” stated Arscott.
