Drive-safe campaign hosts game-show competition for sophomores
October 26, 2016
Today during Homeroom, the sophomores had a class meeting. The meeting was in the auditorium and was a surprise until today when the announcements called the sophomores down. The class meeting was all about learning driver’s safety and knowing all the rules of the road. They wanted students to stay engaged so they presented it in a brilliant way.
A Colorado Department of Transportation program called ThinkFast Interactive put the show on. It was a big trivia game on driver’s safety and just basic knowledge. There were 35 questions total with the bonus question along with it. The last question was a bid so you could bid as many of your points as you wanted. They stopped the game show every five to ten questions informing students about driver’s safety. Trivia wasn’t the only way you could go to the final round though. They brought up dancers to show who was the best dancer and the winner of that advanced. They also brought up actors and advanced the best actor of the group to the final round. Then there was the top two from the trivia that advanced.
In the round of four they asked questions until one person got 500 points with every question being 100 points. The winner was rewarded $100 in iTunes gift cards.
Student Derek West stated, “I really enjoyed how they presented the driver’s safety. I paid close attention and learned a lot. If they would’ve just done a presentation, I wouldn’t have had as much fun and wouldn’t have learned as much.”
The sophomore class meeting was very informative about driving safety while being a lot of fun for all the students. It was a very good idea.
