The SAT is coming up this year and it is a very important test. You might not know what the SAT is because all we ever have talked about is the ACT. Last year was the last year for the ACT. Now it’s the SAT. The SAT is two tests that you take, a reading and English test and a math test. Each test is worth 800 giving you a chance to get 1600 which would be a perfect test. That is equivalent to a 36 on the ACT.

The District 6 School District wants to make sure everyone does very well on it. They wanted to think of a way to improve scores for students. This year they will be putting on a SAT Test Prep Course to help you. It is a one-day course for juniors. This course is free and you get to keep all the materials. Usually this course can cost anywhere from $200-$1000. That is very expensive and you could do it for free.

After interviewing Ariel Flores, a junior getting ready to take the SAT, he said, “I think taking this Prep Test Course would be a very good idea. I want to do good on the SAT and this will help a lot. Especially being the first class to take the SAT we don’t know any tricks that classes have said before. Ms. (Amy) Zulauf has inspired me to be a doctor and this is my first step to become Dr. Flores.”

The test will be sometime in February and if any juniors need further information, they can talk to Principal Mr. Jeff Cranson.
