Luck of Irish with West students, staff
March 17, 2017
You’ll see a little bit more green walking down the halls of Greeley West High School today. Besides wearing green and pinching students, the staff has done a little extra to show Saint Patrick’s Day spirit.
Greeley West’s Interact club put together a Patrick’s Day celebration for all the teachers. Cookies, coffee, and cupcakes fill the teachers’ lounge for a little ‘Thank you’ right before Spring Break.
As part of a tradition at West, the Interact Club hosts a top of the morning breakfast for teachers every St. Patrick’s Day as a gesture of appreciation. Interact co-president Diego Ruis stated,” This is just a great way to show gratitude to all of the teachers that work very hard and really enjoy teaching students at West.”
The Interact Club is provided with donations from Starbucks and Panera to really make the experience worthwhile.
Sophomore Mackenzie Foley who is half Irish celebrated St. Patrick’s day by attending the Denver St. Patrick’s Day Parade this past weekend. “It was really fun to watch the marching bands and horses. I also feel like I become more in touch with my Irish culture.” Stated Foley. “On the actual day of St. Patty’s day, my family and I like going to the Titled Kilt in Greeley.”
Meanwhile, business teacher Mr. Rich Davis who is 1/16 Irish celebrates the day by consuming a traditional Irish meal with his family. “The green root beer is fantastic,” he added.
