November 20, 2017
The Greeley West girls swimming team is going into the season with heads high. This year’s team consists of 30 girls from Greeley West, Greeley Central, and Northridge High School. This is the first time that Greeley has combined all three high schools in town to make one big swimming team.
The combined team has four total captains. One captain to represent Greeley Central and Northridge. The captains that are from Greeley West are Elise Johnson and Emily Cook.
“We are excited to be combined with Northridge and Central because it will add depth to the team. It will help us to compete with the big schools in our conference,” said Johnson.
Colin Shaha, who teaches at Greeley West, is also the swimming coach. He is excited to get the season started.
“I always go into the season with an optimistic mind set. However, the season will depend on how well the team gets along and how much the teammates will help each other reach goals and become better swimmers,” Shaha said.
“Each kid on the team is doing well and coming to practice ready to go. I appreciate each one of the kids. This is season will be a great one,” said Shaha.
