Roche scholarship applications close May 7
April 24, 2018
The 2018 Patrick T. Roche, Ellen M. Roche, and Patrick B. Roche Memorial Scholarships have opened for enrollment. The three scholarships that are given to the selected student is $1,000 non-renewable scholarship. The scholarships may only be used for purposes associated with attending school and are subject to audit by the committee while being used for the first year of full-time study. One scholarship will be given to a student that demonstrated interest in performing arts and the other two will be given to students attending a college or university full-time in 2018-19 academic year.
The scholarship will be open to any student from Greeley West enrolled full-time in course work leading to graduation by the spring of 2018, with good academic progress, and planning on to enroll in a college, university, vocational, or trade school. The eligibility has nothing regarding sex, race, creed or national origin.
The students trying to earn the scholarship will be given a packet to fill information out. Part one to the packet is writing an essay about why you are applying for the scholarship, what your goals are, the community service you have done and the reasons you are pursuing a higher education. The next part are the letters of recommendations from three individuals. The student will have to put personal information about their lives along with their school accomplishments. The packet is finished with a list of what you have been a part of in school. This would be clubs, organizations, sports, theater productions, community service and employment.
“The Greeley West community is very grateful to have support from the Roche family when students are transitioning off to college. It is awesome how much they donate,” Ms. Marlene Rich, the junior counselor said.
The applications are due Monday, May 7 at 10 a.m. to the counseling office. The recipients will be announced prior to graduation and the checks will be made to the attending college.
