The Greeley West Booster Club welcomed community members and West families back to school on Wednesday afternoon at its annual Back to School BBQ. This year, the BBQ was full of  events including free food, the dedication of the turf multi-purpose field to the Roggy family, and a win for both boys’ soccer teams against Lincoln.

President of the Booster Club, Ms. Barbra Broderius, was happy to see softball and baseball players support the event by volunteering.  In the past, teams had not worked the BBQ and had left it to parents to run.  “There’s a lot of dedicated people that are willing to see the importance in it and really want to support Greeley West. It’s a teamwork and it’s just fun to see everyone come together,” Broderius said.

The Booster Club works year-round raising money and making efforts to support Greeley West activities and athletics.  The Back to School BBQ is one of organization’s bigger events full of donations for food and lots of prep work.  The meat used for the sandwiches was prepped the day before and began cooking early in the afternoon to be ready for the 4:30 kick-off.  Mr. Rob Reeve dedicated his time to cook and provide the ingredients to provide the meal free of charge.

The Booster Club hopes to keep this welcome-back tradition going strong and and plans on creating more events throughout the year to create a sense of community for Greeley West families, in hopes that the community will come together and support Greeley West this year.
