On Tuesday, November 5, Greeley West had another opportunity to showcase its AVID program to teachers and faculty from other Colorado schools.

During the showcase, AVID ambassadors from different grade levels gave tours to AVID teachers and administrators from different buildings.  The goal was to show how Greeley West uses the AVID systems as a way to coach and prepare those other schools.  West has held these showcase days in each of the past three years.  

These showcases hope to provide an opportunity for AVID educators to see AVID in action and to learn more about how AVID can be implemented into every part of the education curriculum in their own schools. 

For one AVID ambassador, junior Caleb Sandoval, being an AVID ambassador means everything to him. It isn’t just something to get out of class for.

“Being an ambassador is not only about giving tours. It’s about being a role model for other students and being able to inspire them to be the best version of themselves.”

This links to AVID’s core message: AVID’s mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.

AVID hopes to provide professional learning for educators to improve college readiness for all students, especially those traditionally underrepresented in higher education, which many students in West need.
