The unified sports teams at West continue to strive as they just recently made their second appearance at the state bowling tournament. This is a huge accomplishment as three out of the four teams from West qualified to attend the competition.

Bowling teams from Greeley West have qualified both years that Unified bowling has been an official CHSAA sponsored sport.

To qualify for the state tournament, the teams had to attend the regional tournament and perform there in order to advance to state. After practicing vigorously for eight weeks and battling against teams from other schools, three teams made it to state.

Bowling head coach Mrs. Nicole Beaton said, “Last year was the first year for Unified bowling so there were only 12 teams at the state tournament. This year, there was a lot more school participation around the state, which was awesome to see.”

At the state tournament, there were 40 teams that qualified for state and three that placed.  Beaton said, “The state tournament went well. The athletes enjoyed themselves and they enjoyed getting to travel down to Denver. They performed well despite not placing.”

“The best part of the tournament was seeing the athletes’ hard work pay off,” Beaton continued.  “The athletes worked hard to even qualify for state, so it was great seeing them getting to travel and watching them compete with the other teams.”
