A Zulauf Christmas Carol
December 17, 2019
Twas the week before Christmas and all through the school,
It was time for the elves to assess who was most cool.
Since it was late December and most students had checked out,
The elves decided to look to the faculty and its high-level clout.
They quickly realized few teachers had cheer;
They were too busy working on grades and finals – that was clear.
And so the elves turned their attention to the assistant principal,
Who made it a tradition to be a festively-dressed gal.
Regardless of day throughout all of December,
Ms. Zulauf looked like Buddy the Elf, if you remember.
The gawdy sweaters and peppermint tights,
The red and green colors flying everywhere as she broke up fights.
“You should have seen my hats,” she called out to the elves,
“But I can’t wear them here, so they sit on my shelves!”
The elves were most impressed with her festive sense of humor,
As she talked to teenage girls about spreading vicious rumors.
Despite sitting in meetings and dealing with the worst school had to offer,
Ms. Zulauf dressed up, stayed cheerful and celebrated Christmas proper.
As the year comes to an end, the elves told Zulauf they knew one thing to be true:
“Christmas wouldn’t be the same around West without you.”
