Soccer Scores Win: The Greeley West boys soccer team handily defeated the Greeley Central Wildcats, 3-1, on Wednesday night. Midfielder Austin Jones was named the game’s MVP. Juan Cortes, Kevin Quinones, and Diego Vasquez scored goals for West. Their next game is against Longmont on October 6…
Dancing Fish: Mr. Jonathan Bass flopped around on the stage of the auditorium on Saturday night and won this year’s Dancing With The Teachers. Bass danced to a Grease song and will be performing again during the West-Central assembly next week.
Poetry Workshop: Last Saturday the Mexican American Studies Society held a first conference of its kind: Raices, Raza, y Reciprocity. Students were able to hear from previous alumni who are now at UNC or working there. They learned about Chicano studies and solidarity. The club also had the pleasure of having the poet Alejandro Jimenez run a workshop and give a performance. The conference had over 120 students coming from all over Greeley with students from Northridge and Central. Aurora West students also attended the conference…
FFA Orientation: On Monday morning, Greeley West FFA hosted their leadership conference for first-year FFA members from around Northern Colorado. The state FFA officers presented workshops for first-year FFA members. A total of 23 schools were at Greeley West for the conference. Over 400 students attended the event…
Parent Teacher Conferences: The Greeley West staff held the first parent conferences in the new building. Turnout was higher than usual, probably given the opportunity to walk through the new building…
Parking Disaster: With the FFA Conference, the District 6 Wellness Fair, parent conferences, and a home tennis match all happening at the same time, parking was difficult to come by on Monday. Student and parents parked in the Sanborn parking lot and walked over to the new building. Good news is on the way, though. The new parking lot is being paved…
School Threat: Principal Jeff Cranson sent an email on Wednesday sharing information about grafitti in multiple bathrooms that included a potential threat at school. Thanks to the security cameras and the work of the Greeley Police department, a suspected student was identified, received criminal charges and was removed from the school…
