Drive Smart is a non-profit community coalition founded in 1999. This foundation helps us reduce deaths and automobile accidents, stop traffic, etc. It teaches us how to make wise decisions and how to avoid certain dangerous situations.

Greeley West is one of several schools that are involved with Drive Smart.  You may have noticed that the Fashion Club completed many activiites this year.  For example, on November 8th, we made a turkey with a seatbelt and displayed it, to encourage the students to wear a seat belt at all times, thus avoiding any serious harm in an accident. Drive Smart gives us great opportunities to reflect on how important it is to know how to control the wheel and the risks involved.

Other groups in the region have done other projects.  On January 17, the Buckle Up Drive Smart group (BUDS) in Fort Lupton drew a picture of a snow man in the school window, reminding drivers and passengers to wear seat belts at all times. The FCCLA BUDS group in Platte Valley sponsored its seventh year of Drive Smart, obtaining more than 100 ninth grade students interested in being part of their club. They had the opportunity to listen to police, firefighters and paramedics on how to control the wheel properly.

Drive Smart teams around the region provide many opportunities to talk with people who have experience and professionalism on how to control the wheel.  

Take into account the great responsibility of driving, it’s very important and even more important when you take people with you in the car. The lives of the passengers who go with you are in your hands, it’s is extremely important to be a safe driver and Drive Smart is the perfect reminder to help you reflect and be aware of the importance of these acts.  Join us in “driving smart.”

“Drive Smart”una coalición comunitaria sin fines de lucro fundada en 1999, esta fundación nos ayuda a disminuir las muertes y accidentes automovilísticos, mantener el tráfico en movimiento, etc… Por otra parte nos enseña cómo tomar decisiones sabias y cómo evadir ciertas situaciones de peligro.

El 17 de enero el grupo de BUDS en Fort Lupton, hizo un dibujo en la ventana de la escuela de un muñeco de nieve, recordándoles a los conductores y pasajeros a llevar el cinturón puesto en todo momento. Por otro lado el grupo de FCCLA BUDS en Platte Valley patrocinio nuestros séptimo año de drive smart, obteniendo más de 100 estudiantes del noveno grado interesados en ser parte de su club, tuvieron la oportunidad de escuchar a policías, bomberos y paramédicos de cómo controlar el volante de la manera adecuada.

El equipo de Drive smart nos brinda muchas oportunidades, una de ellas tener pláticas con personas con experiencia y profesionalismo sobre cómo controlar el volante, un ejemplo de ello fue el 10 de noviembre en Fort Lupton en el cual los estudiantes interesados en unirse al club hicieron una promesa en una pluma de pavo sobre conducir inteligente.

Greeley West es una de las varias escuelas que están involucradas con Drive smart, teniendo en cuenta que el 8 de noviembre los estudiantes del fashion club hicieron varias actividades y una de

ellas fue hacer un pavo con un cinturón de seguridad, para animar a los estudiantes a usar el cinturón de seguridad en todo momento, y así evadir cualquier tipo de accidente. Drive smart nos brinda grandes oportunidades de reflexionar lo importante que es saber cómo controlar el volante y los riesgos que hay.

Tener en cuenta la gran responsabilidad que es manejar un transporte es algo importante y aún más cuando llevas a gente contigo, saber que en tus manos está la vida de los pasajeros que
van contigo es sumamente importante y drive smart es el club perfecto para ayudarte a reflexionar y estar consciente de la importancia de estos actos, únete a nosotros para conducir de una
manera adecuada.

**David Orazco is a student in the Fashion Club at Greeley West High School who is partnering with Drive Smart to encourage the students at Greeley West High School to avoid crashes by making smart decisions on the road as young drivers.  Drive Smart Colorado dedicates much of its time to the education of teens and their parents about how to prevent tragedies from occurring on roadways.**
