One of Greeley West’s most popular clubs is Cosmetology Club This year, meetings will start . on the Wednesday after Labor Day.
This club is run by English and Yearbook teacher Ms. Bree Tanner. This is Tanner’s second year with the club. Her favorite part of Cosmetology Club is when they do special effects like scars, bruises, cuts and many more. “My favorite part about cosmetology would be when we do effects to the skin,” Tanner said.
Tanner expects about 40 students to join. Not only do they meet twice a week, but on Mondays they do hairstyles and on Wednesdays they do makeup. Over all the club is a mix of all grade levels and there is mostly girls in the club.
One of the students who participated last year was Alyza Mena. She said the community was all nice and everyone had something in common. Mena stated, “We all had one thing in common and made us come together and I made new friends who share the same interest as me.”
Since most of the club members are girls, most boys said they did not have much interest in joining. Uriel Delgado, thinks that it would be nice to learn how to cut hair but is not really interested in makeup or hairstyles. Therefore, he’ll be staying away from the club. He said, “Hairstyles and makeup are for girls and if I ever have to do a hairstyle on my kids or sister, I will just YouTube it.”
