The Greeley West football team lost last Thursday’s home opener to Mountain Range, but came back to practice with a new mindset this week, working hard to improve their performance for tonight’s game against Bear Creek.
Running back Jeremy Keener pointed out some of the struggles they had during last game against Mountain Range leading to the loss. “Some of the things for me personally and as a team we struggled with was sticking to our responsibilities and working as a team and lifting each other up rather than bringing each other down,” Kenner said.
Right guard and nose tackle Cole Nohr gave some insight on what him and his team have been working on during practice this week. “We have especially worked on more effort, not only during our games, but also during practice and attitude. We want to go out there next game with a new mindset and just go punch them in the mouth and fix those little mistakes,” Nohr said.
Running back Jaxten Leonetti , who also played on the defensive line, spoke on what his team are going to bring to the table next game to avoid a repeat from last game. Last week, the offense came out struggling with a 15-yard penalty on the first play and never got going. The defense came out strong to try and hold down Mountain Range’s offense, who still managed to get 288 rushing yards combined. “Coming up in our game against Bear Creek, we are going to try to up our run game and really play more gaps on defense, shutting down the holes making sure they can’t pass or run on our d line,” Leonetti said.
