Greeley West High School sophomores and freshmen are upset about not being able to leave the site for lunch. They want to be able to go off campus and get fast food, as well as take a break from school.
Greeley West sophomore Yadeliz Garcia, stated, “We should have the permission to go because we’re more mature. I mean I get freshmans. I literally used to ditch last year, but like come on, we’re sophomores now. I think we deserve to go.”
Garcia said that she’s hearing that maybe it will open up like it did last year. “People keep telling me we’re gonna be allowed to leave at the end of the year so I don’t know what that fakeness is about, but we need to clear that up,” Garcia said.
The adults and the students in the building couldn’t be much further apart on it. Josh Tiffany, one of the new Greeley Wests Campus Monitors, said, “I don’t think anyone should be allowed to leave campus for safety reasons.”
Junior Kevin Mendoza acknowledged that his class helped screw it up for everyone. Juniors did not have a closed campus in the old building. “I want to admit it now: our sophomore and freshman year we ruined it for everyone else that was coming to this school because we were wreaking havoc and I loved it. But you know what I think sophomores deserve to go off campus because they’re more responsible. Not the freshman though, cause they’re insane,” Mendoza said.
At the end of the day, Greeley West sophomores and freshmen have no idea if they’ll be allowed off campus any time soon, but it’s pretty obvious how they’d prefer to have it if they could choose.
