Managing a full schedule as a senior is hard. But being an involved student athlete is even harder.
Akam Chahal is a senior at Greeley West who’s focused on getting her college applications in while being a stand out student. Her swim coach Colin Shaha spoke his opinion on his team captain Chahal. “She puts her teammates before herself; she swims every event while also being kind and supportive,” Shaha said.
Chahal is a part of National Honor Society and Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) and finally Council of Student Representatives. She also spent her summer interning at a law firm. “I interned at Weibel Zacheis & Greenfield. I mainly worked on preparing trial evidence and I got to shadow attorneys which was really cool,” Chahal explained.
Chahal is one of the better students at Greeley West and a good example of what a student should be. “She works really hard, she is one of the better students in our school and one of the better people,” said social studies teacher Ky Dietz. After graduation Chahal wants to go into law and possibly become a lawyer. “I absolutely think she can go as far as she wants to in anything that she chooses,” Deitz said
Akam has left a wonderful impression on teachers here at Greeley West because she pushes herself to become a better student. “Words cannot describe Akam Chahal. She is very bright, kind, and enjoys thinking about the world in a different way,” said teacher Lea Sanford.
One of Chahals passions is one of the things she’s involved in, SHAC. “She really enjoys working behind the scenes trying to help improve students’ mental health and how we can provide students with the resources the students need,” Sanford said.
