Greeley West High School senior Zanayah Shanks, who is the student body president is eager to have fun and be a part of all the fun activities and events that they have planned. Shanks said this school year hass one of the biggest councils that they’ve had in quite a while. It is filled with a variety of classes but definitely has lots of freshmen.
Shanks said that she is “very excited as President and being a senior.” She also said that she believed, “as a freshman you look forward to the moments of being a senior and just being able to feel on top.”
Shanks realizes that senior year is going by quickly and that soon seniors will be off to college, starting fresh and become freshmen again working their way up. That’s why Shanks is excited for the freshmen to be a part of the big event planning that StuCo has to offer. She hopes that they will continue to have fun and create a strong and friendly community along with working together to plan events in the future.
As for the freshmen, they are thriving in this new and very social aspect of school and are happy to help plan Homecoming, West vs. Central, spirit weeks/days and more. Freshman Natalie Taylor said she is excited to be a part of the homecoming and spirit week committee in StuCo. Taylor also feels that being involved in the event planning “puts a lot of responsibility on you, but it’s super fun, plus you get insights on everything before it happens.”
Another freshman, Hanifa Adam, said she is part of the Homecoming spirit week committee. “I apprecaite having the opportunity to plan these events because I’ve always wanted to be super involved.”
Adam also says that she plans to be in StuCo next year and hopes that they can work together as well and professional like the juniors and seniors do.
