On Tuesday September 19, the Greeley West volleyball team defeated their crosstown rival Greeley Central. The final score was 3-0 and was a big momentum boost for the team.
The rivalry has been going on for many years between the two teams. People all year look forward to the West-Central game for all sports all year. Usually, the schools play twice but in some sports, they only play once but some believe the most important game is the first one.
This year the volleyball game was a very big game for Davenee McKinney. As she won the MVP of the game everyone was happy for her. She said, ¨It feels really good to be the MVP mostly because I’ve worked so hard to be able to win it.¨
McKinney did not want to take all the credit from her team she was happy about them. She said, ¨A big factor for the team was our attitude and just playing to win rather than trying to lose.¨
Going into one of those games, all you want is to get that plaque and be the MVP. She said, ¨I’ve been dreaming of the Central game as a senior forever.¨
