Greeley West High School’s upcoming orchestra concert will take place on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the school’s auditorium. This year’s theme is “Heroes and Heroines,” which was inspired by the slogan “Spartans are Valiant” coined by Principal Mr. Jeffery Cranson at the beginning of the year.
In addition to the musical performances, this year’s orchestra concert will have some exciting features. One such feature is a multimedia presentation that will be projected on the screen showcasing who the performers consider their heroes. Furthermore, the lights on the wall of the auditorium will fluctuate with the different musical pieces creating a captivating visual experience.
Orchestra Conductor, Mr. Tom Nugent is excited to share the idea of how music can be heroic. “I think we can find great examples of how music supports valiant characteristics in film, but also how composers themselves can be valiant in their creation of art,” Nugent explained.
Nugent also touched base on how each concert is different because they are each their own creation of art. “Each live performance is a unique opportunity. It’s like a fingerprint. There are never two live performances that are the exact same. Ever,” Nugent stated.
Orchestra students are excited to showcase their hard work and shine a light on musicians in Greeley West. “I’m excited about this concert because we worked really hard and the pieces are really difficult, but I think it will be fun to show our progress and how we’ve been able to persevere through the challenges,” sophomore Sofia Vasquez said.
Don’t miss the first concert of the year. Orchestra students have been working hard and are excited to play some pieces that the audience might know. “The theme this year is something new and exciting, especially for the audience,” Vasquez said.
