Senior AVID students had the amazing opportunity of being able to go and visit CU Boulder’s campus. During the trip, the students got a campus tour across the beautiful campus.
Senior Joel Soto was one of the students who was able to go on the trip. “ I have been before, but the campus is one of a kind. It’s walkable, and very student friendly. It looks like everyone who attends CU loves it.” Soto stated.
In the past weeks, the senior AVID classses have been consumed by applying to college and scholarships. The trip gave students a chance to ask questions about college, and have them answered by college students. The students were even able to eat lunch in the schools cafeteria.
Jaime Ramirez felt like the Q&A portion was very helpful. “A lot of people want to come to CU, and I felt like it was helpful for us to ask them questions that we are stressing about.” Ramirez stated. “It helps ready us for when we have to leave for college.”
The visit not only shows high school students what college looks like, but it also shows the student what they are applying for. The trip definently opened Pedro Chavez’s eyes. “ I loved the trip. The campus was so cool to walk through. I am seriously considering going to CU now,” Chavez stated. “ I would love going to CU.”
The trip was a huge success for all parties involved. Some were able to have an amazing field trip, and others were able to get a glimpse into what they hope to experience every single day next school year.
