Every day at Greeley West students and staff wear hats – some on a day-to-day basis. You probably hear campus monitors and other admins asking students to remove their hats, but what about faculty members?
It is a District 6 rule to not wear hats inside the school building. Yet students are the only ones being held accountable.
I have personally seen select teachers and other district employees wearing their hats inside the building and not being told anything.
If it was so much of a safety concern, you would expect everyone to follow the set rule. It’s not fair to ask students to remove their hats and hoods, but when they turn the corner there are faculty members wearing hats.
I’m not the only one seeing this. In fact, many students around the halls will protest removing their hats and hoods until they see the faculty follow the same rules.
It doesn’t make sense why students and staff don’t follow the same rules in regard to the safety of the school inside the building. Even after bringing up this issue to campus monitors, and simply asking what the reason was, you can still go into the halls and see faculty wearing hats and no one says a thing.
Moving forward we need to bring attention to the matter, and ensure that BOTH staff and students are to not wear hats or hoods in the building, as it is hard to identify the said person, and due to basic safety reasons.
