It’s no surprise that teachers struggle with a lot of things throughout the school year. Who knew that they would eventually become a computer charger dealer? Throughout Greeley West, a common phrase that is heard throughout the classrooms is, “Ms./Mr., do you have a computer charger?”
Students have had their computers since the beginning of their high school lives, so over the years it’s safe to say that kids have become accustomed to accidentally leaving their chargers in classrooms.
Asking Junior Daniel Zavala why he didn’t bring his computer charger, there wasn’t much to do but respect his answer. “You can’t bring what you don’t have,” Zavala stated.
Zavala is a victim of these missing chargers. He claims that he doesn’t remember exactly when was the last time he had a charger to his name but he hopes for the best.
“I don’t know really; I came back to class to get my charger back and the next thing you know it was gone,” Zavala said. ”I try to be optimistic and hope that it walks back towards me because I really miss it.”
It’s no surprise that teachers too fall victim to these loose chargers, as they get left behind by their previous owners. Social Studies teacher Nicholas Jacoby sighs at the moment of recollection of how many times he was asked if he had a spare charger.
“I get asked around 2-3 times a day, so weekly I hear the same question around 15 times,” Jacoby said.
Jacoby has also found two lone chargers throughout the semester.
“Apart from my other colleagues, I’m lucky enough to have a clean room with no chargers,” Jacoby explained. ” Though students around Greeley West do need to be more responsible with their stuff because teachers won’t be behind them to remind them.”
It’s not bad to theorize what happens to the chargers because anything could happen.
“I like to think that there’s a black market and there’s a kid that hoards them and possibly reselling them for crazy prices,” Jacoby theorized.
Whether there’s a black market of chargers or it’s a case of students just blanking out while leaving their classroom, it’s only to be hoped that these charges can be returned to their original owner.
