Madison Vella is a junior at Greeley West who isn’t just involved at the school ,but also in her community. Vella is a dancer and also a teacher at NCADA( Northern Colorado Academy of Dance Arts) and she is truly happy to be involved with them. Vella is also one of the dancers in Greeley’s presentation of the Nutcracker that opens tonight at Union Colony Civic Center.
Vella fell in love with dance when she was three years old and that is when the passion began. “My mom was on the board of directors for the Nutcracker and I remember saying one day in the car ‘I want to try dance’ and from there I fell in love right away,” Vella stated.
Teaching her younger students has been her best experience in her career. “I love my kids and passing down the knowledge that I have, it just makes me smile,” Vella said.
Teachers all around inspire dancers, but for Vella that led her to want to become a teacher for her students. “I had a bunch of teachers who inspired me and gave me positive memories and so I just wanted to do the same with my students,” Vella claimed.
Her dance life makes Vella very well balanced in her academics. “I’m involved in NHS, AVID, and STUCO and I feel like that makes me well balanced because I’m not just spending all my time at school but in my community and it also drives me to be a leader in school,” Vella said.
Science and AVID teacher Mr. Pace wanted to share his thoughts on his AVID student. “ Maddy is an all-star here at West and we are very lucky to have her,” Pace said.
“She is a leader, she is inquisitive, and full of compassion. She is hardworking and she fits in with our AVID class and it wouldn’t be the same if she wasn’t here,” Pace said.
