Students at Greeley West High School are bringing holiday cheer to the school as a positive way to end the semester. In a sweet move, students have planned a gift candy cane campaign to make their teachers and other students smile before the semester finishes for Christmas.
The program seeks to improve moods and create a happy environment at a time when students frequently experience stress. Greeley West junior STUCO member Precious Soto shared her opinions on the proposal, saying, “We wanted to treat our fellow students and teachers to something special,” Soto said. “As a small thank you for all of their hard work and dedication this semester, the candy canes are a present.”
Students are being given gift candy canes so that they can feel the delight of receiving an unexpected present, even if they didn’t receive anything else. Senior Lorenzo Quintana said it was nice. “I think that it was a good idea. A lot of people don’t have Christmas or even get gifts, so I think it’s a way to positively impact people who may not have gotten much this year.”
The Greeley West High School community has received support, with students from different grade levels in STUCO generously offering their time to arrange and hand out the candy canes. Moreover, teachers and staff members have expressed gratitude for this considerate act, acknowledging its positive influence on the school.
The gift candy cane program at Greeley West High School demonstrates the empathetic and thoughtful character of the student population. It serves as a reminder that even small acts of generosity can have a meaningful impact in fostering a supportive and inclusive educational atmosphere.
As the end of the semester approaches, the distribution of candy canes as gifts is sure to create a lasting impact on the students and faculty members of Greeley West High School.
