Students from Medicine Lodge, Kansas made an eight-hour drive from Medicine Lodge to Greeley West as part of an FFA exchange program. This opportunity came about because Michael Stull, the Agriculture instructor at Medicine Lodge, started reaching out to the FFA instructors in the state of Colorado to see if there was a program that they could get involved with.
They first took a stop to the Colorado Stock Show and then came u[ from Denver to visit West. They were here to see the differences between their own school and West. Medicine Lodge has a total of 200 students, compared to Greeley West. “I called the FFA instructor in the state of Colorado and said do you know of a program I might be able to could get in to and here we are,” Stull explained.
Greeley West senior Kadie Childers was one of the FFA officers in charge of them while they visited Greeley West. Childers believes this opportunity is going to benefit Greeley West as its size and diversity is able to show how great of a school it is. Childers enjoyed showing the kids the different classrooms and the different settings here, as most of the classrooms have 30 kids, something the Medicine Lodge students were not used to seeing. “They think its really fun to go to a class that has 30 kids and seeing the hallway sizes and how big the gym is,” Childers explained. So I think its been fun to show them how big West is.”
Medicine Lodge senior Jacob Eck was one of the students that was able to attended the visit to Greeley West. Eck enjoyed the environment here at Greeley West, as its something way different compared to his school. He recommend kids from his school to take the opportunity to visit different schools. “Its honestly just a different environment for us just the size and the amount of kids here,” Eck said.
