During today’s school assembly, Greeley West High School paid tribute to Officer Mark Harrahill the school’s former resource officer. Harrahill served at West for five years.
During his five years at West, he has dealt with students during difficult times, sometimes self-created. He has obviously been very authoritative but has also created good relationships with fellow faculty members and students.
West campus monitor Mathew Fisher has worked with Harrahill for two years. Fisher explained one of his best memories of Harrahill. “I would say the best one by far was last year when he slipped and fell on ice and everyone saw on the school cameras,” Fisher said.
Joshua Tiffany, another one of West’s school monitors, has developed a pretty good relationship with Harrahill even though it’s his first year at the school. “Mark is a really good person. When I first started he gave me insight on the school’s security and students. Over time, I have begun to see that he gives the students a sense of security in the building,” Tiffany said.
At the assembly, Harrahill was presented with a plaque made by the school resource monitor team and a poster that many of the faculty and students have signed over the past week, giving their thanks for his time and patience at West.
Harrahill explained how much he appreciated everyone and everything that had been done for him. “ I will definitely miss the relationships with everyone and I truly wish I could stay longer,.” Harrahill said.
Harrahill is said to have left a legacy for the students at West. “ Over the course of the five years at West, Mark has definitely humanized the police force by having him here at school every day,” Tiffany said.
