With the NFL season coming to an end with yesterday’s Super Bowl, we thought we would look back at the Top 5 players from the past NFL season. We left off Kansas City Chiefs, with this being Bronco country and all.
5. CJ Stroud
Drafted No. 2 by the Houston Texans, rookie quarterback CJ Stroud changed the culture in Houston. The Texans went from 3-13-1 last year to 10-7, making it to the Divisional round of the playoffs. In the regular season, Stroud put up 4,108 passing yards, with 23 touchdown passes and 5 interceptions. With these stats, it was enough to get him Rookie of the Year
4. Tyreek Hill
Is there much to say about Miami’s Tyreek Hill? 2023 was another year of him dominating the NFL. In the regular season, Hill had 1799 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns, having 171 targets and completing 119 receptions. It was another historic season on his resume.
3. TJ Watt
Even though TJ Watt got robbed of his Defensive Player of the Year award, Watt had an amazing season. Watt racked up 19 sacks, with 68 tackles. Watt’s sacks easily put him above the rest of the pack. Without Watt, the Steelers had no chance of beating the Bills, showing Watt’s importance to the team. Watt should have won DPOY and was easily a top player during the season.
2. Lamar Jackson
Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens won the MVP for the second time in his short career. He had a 24:7 touchdown to interception ratio. During the regular season, Jackson played as well as any other player, even at one point dismantling the NFC Champion 49ers. Jackson couldn’t get past the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game, but that doesn’t take away from his success all year.
1. Christian McCaffrey
What a season for the San Francisco 49ers, and Christian McCaffrey. During the regular season, McCaffrey racked up a wild 26 touchdowns, 18 on the ground, and 8 receiving. He also had over 2000 scrimmage yards. When the Niners needed McCaffrey the most, he stepped up (not counting the Super Bowl). CMC won the Offensive Player of the Year, and he should have definitely won the MVP. Christian McCaffrey was easily the best player of the year.
