Greeley West High School’s robotics team traveled to Canada for a tournament. The tournament is a really big tournament and it was the school’s first time being invited to compete in it.
The tournament consisted of over 150 different teams around the world. This tournament is Canada’s signature robotics event.
There were four kids that are a part of the team. The players are Logan Reynolds, Brennan Truitt, Caleb Lam, and Holden Kleinman. The coach of the team is Tristan Vangilder who is a science teacher.
Going on a trip like this is not just a vacation. Some may consider it a vacation, but they went up there with a plan and took it as a business trip to get stuff done.
The school and Booster Cub payed for their flights to get from there and back. The robotics team did indeed have to pay for there own hotel rooms and the other expenses.
Some teams have different types of robots to do different types of things. The Greeley West team has a robot that is able to do many types of obstacles. The only thing that hey have to do to the robot is change different parts of the robot.
The team also got a rewarded with a “sportsmanship award.” Them getting that award is a big achievement knowing only 20 awards were given out and they had got one of them.
