The Girls Tennis’ season starts tonight with their match against Mountain View.
The girls hope to start their season off with a win, but most importantly they hope to improve from last season.
Head coach Ryan Pace has high hopes for the season and the match tonight. “The team is more experienced. We have depth on our team. We are also welcoming back three state qualifiers, Izty Guidry, Davanee McKinney and Danae Rowe, who made finals last year,” stated Pace. “ We are a very tight knit group. We expect to do very good tonight. Mountain View is a good team with a very good singles player.
Pace said this year, the team hopes to leave the rebuild behind. “We are optimistic this season. The last years have been about rebuilding, but now we are ready to reload. We hope to be in the hunt for the playoffs, and send many positions to state. We just want to improve,” Pace said.
Last season, the team finished with a 5-4 record, and they hope to improve, and win even more matches.
State qualifier Davanee McKinney expects a lot from this team. “ I hope to qualify for doubles with Itzy, and even place in state. This team is extremely good, we have new freshman on the team who are very experienced, and very very good.” McKinney stated. “I hope to win tonight, and win throughout the season.”
Junior Cherly Rodriguez also shares this belief. “We have everything to win. We are going to win, and I hope most of us go to state. We are going to be a very good team,” Rodriguez said.
