The Greeley West baseball team is off to a Rockie start to the season, but look to bounce back in their (now) Monday doubleheader against Greeley Central at Butch Butler Field.
Tomorrow’s West-Central tilt was moved to Monday because of the high-wind warning.
Since their win in their first game of the season against Gateway, they have lost six straight getting outscored 69-6 in the six game span. They also were shut out in three of the six games. Thee Spartans have three hitters above a .300 batting average, and an average ERA of 10.16.
Dominic Flores explained what the team needs to do to bounce back against the Wildcats. “We need to have no errors and play more as a team and HITTING the ball… I think that we have been building more motivation to win coming into the Central game,” Flores said,
Jacob Flores then illustrateed the importance of winning these next two games. “I think that if we win these next two games it’ll definitely boost our confidence and our record at a better spot than it is going into the seven game week that’s coming up here pretty soon, but if we get these two wins we can compete against the better teams.”
Ethan Guest explained the team’s motivation from the six game losing streak and how they look to break the streak against Central. “It makes us hungry to get back in the win column. We haven’t gotten a win for a while so it would be nice to win… it’s also a rivalry game so if we get this win hopefully the wins will start flowing. Guest explained.
