Last week, Greeley West’s very own Unified Art class was presented with a $2,500 grant from Greeley’s Success Foundation. The grant allows the art class to purchase more materials/resources to be used throughout the classroom.
The Success Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports schools within the Greeley-Evans School District 6. The grants that the organization offers not only help the schools but also provide grants that seniors can use for scholarships as they transition to college.
After being selected through the application process, Ceramics, and Unified Art teacher Julie Hagemeister shared how she’ll use the grant. “For the unified art class we were able to use the grant money to get molds and cookie cutters that the artists can use when we’re working with clay,” Hagemeister shared.
As the different elective classes have budgets set, Hagemesiter also stated the importance and benefit of this grant. “The art classes already have a set budget that the school gives them, so with the money we received it was a huge boost to the possibilities that the class can have,” Hagemeister explained. “This money will be able to help this program in the future.”
Senior Jadyn Ramos has been in the class for two years and has seen this grant as an open door for the class that allows them to achieve their goals. “With the set budget, it limited the amount of projects that the students were able to do for the class,” Ramos stated.”
The Success Foundation painted a picture worthy of a thousand words for West’s unified art class. Look forward to seeing many more sculptures throughout the school in the upcoming year.
