Senior Greeley West baseball player Ethan Guest committed to play next year at Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska. Guest has been playing varsity baseball since his sophomore year of high school.
Guest has been playing baseball since he was a little kid. Guest said, “What drew me to baseball is I grew up in a baseball household. I grew up watching my cousins who played for Greeley West at Butch Butler and just grew up around there.”
Guest’s favorite baseball player is Bryce Harper. “He’s a pretty good lefty who kinda inspired my game,” Guest said.
Guest bats left handed throws with his right hand. Guest plays third base, second base, and shortstop.
Guest’s most memorable moment in his high school career came late this senior year. “Under the lights against Greeley Central and my first at bat I hit a double gap against them,” Guest said.
West played Central twice and split against them.
Guest is focused on hitting and fielding. He is focused on fielding mainly right now because the velocity of the balls coming at you in high school is a lot different in college.
Preparing for a game is important to be able to do not only mentally but physically also. Guest said, “Physically I prepare by drinking a lot of water to stay hydrated and keep it light while eating things, and mentally I feel like just staying calm and not stressing too much.”
