Band, orchestra, and choir students performed a concert at Standley Lake High School in Westminster early Saturday morning and later celebrated with amusement park rides.
Choir sponsor Ms. Rosie O’Connor organized the field trip and was excited to get back into an annual field trip routine. “I thought this trip would be a fun bonding experience for the music department. I think we can go back into doing more traditional trips every year because COVID kind of threw a wrench into everything, and so this sets the expectation that we will do a trip every year,” O’Conner shared.
Performing arts students believe that field trips are a great way to celebrate their achievements and have fun with their friends. “The performing arts programs do a lot in the year. There are so many concerts and practices that we all do, so going to a trip like Elitches is a cool way to acknowledge all of our hard work within our programs,” cellist Delylah Ruiz shared.
O’Conner was proud of the way the trip turned out. “I think everyone did an excellent job in the performances, they all sounded extremely well and it was a cool experience to hear everyone’s abilities and talent. I also really enjoyed the rides at Elitches, even if the lines were really long,” she expressed.
Performing arts students felt that this trip was a good way to end the year and bond with their peers. “I really enjoyed being able to have fun with my friends and having a break from thinking about finals and school work. They really gave us a lot of freedom, we were able to be independent and it just showed us how much our teachers trusted us,” sophomore Israel Ramos shared.
