Making a good first impression is what students think about when considering what to wear on the first day of school.
When you look at the big picture have you ever thought about all the elements that go into picking an outfit? Of course there’s the actual outfit, but what about trying to figure out the hair style you’re going to do, and then of course picking the different shoes you might wear? Students are also trying to make a good first impression on teachers and administration, but friends and peers as well. All of this combined can leave people struggling to find what to wear.
To Senior Jovan Guidry, this task is one he finds easy. “The night before I look at what I’m going to wear, when I see something I like I then try it on and go with it,” Guidry.
For Senior Maddy Vella, it’s the total opposite. “It took me two hours to pick my outfit, I had to make sure it was perfect,” Vella stated.
To Vella there are more factors to be considered. “I want to make sure it’s appropriate while also keeping the outfit cute. After figuring out my outfit and having it set I then figure out my hair and shoes. It was definitely a challenge because I not only wanted the outfit to be cute but to make a good impression for the start of school,” Vella said.
Freshman Fayth Cowen wanted to match, but also wanted the transition into high school to be “comfortable. For my outfit I wanted to show off but also be comfortable with myself, so I picked something cozy so it could feel right,” said Cowen.
For freshman Faith Vanscyoc , the opinions of her family and friends helped her decide. “It was hard to pick, so I called my sister and friends and got their input on what I should wear. While I’m also indecisive it made it harder to decide what I wanted to do,” Vanscyoc said.
