This summer, Greeley West senior Jarran Molina, took a huge step towards his future by participating in an internship at the Colorado Railroad Museum. Driven by his interest in psychology and a desire to improve his social skills, Molina chose this opportunity to work with people of all ages.
During Molina’s internship, he learned many things. “I learned how to interact with younger children, learned how to work the front desk, and also learned how to keep a positive mindset in stressed out situations,” Molina said.
Molina’s job consisted of walking the children around a mini-world of miniature trains.
The internship was Molina’s first actual employment and that became one of his biggest obstacles. “It was my first real job; so I was a little worried about how that would go, but it went really well,” Molina stated.
Molina’s future goals were greatly impacted by the internship as well. He was originally planning to study psychology, but after having such an amazing time taking care of kids, he is now thinking about becoming a teacher.
When asked for advice for other students considering internships, Molina emphasizes the value of being open-minded and welcoming to new experiences. In addition to influencing his career, his experience at the Colorado Railroad Museum had a very significant impact on everyone that he worked with.
For anyone interested in a visit, Molina highly recommends the museum, calling it a “great place” worth exploring.
