Greeley West students have a chance to get into a future football game for free this on Thursday October 10. All they need to do is have perfect attendance. So how many students will be taking advantage of that opportunity? We set out to find out what kids thought about the opportunity.
Last month, West offered free tickets to the football game for anyone with zero missing assignments. West teachers believe this has improved kids’ work ethic and think this is a great way to get kids better involved in academics and athletics in the future. Ms. Karina Basset said, “In my classes, I had at least ten kids per period working hard to get their assignments done and submitted on time so they could go to the game two weeks ago, and since they announced the attendance policy for this upcoming game, my attendance has been close to perfect.”
West’s underclassmen think this is a great idea. Freshman Izzy Jackson said, “I thought this was a great idea, I see a lot of my peers showing up on time more often, the school should definitely continue to offer these types of rewards.”
The upperclassmen agreed. Junior Surenity De La Rosa said, “I think this is a great motivator and something the school should continue to do.”
De La Rosa said it’s having an impact on the quality of work, as well. “I see a lot of people working much harder and actually excited about this offer. Also the attendance in my classes has been really good too,” De La Rosa added.
