As another Homecoming week comes to a close, Greeley West students and staff started to discuss their opinions on the dance, the week’s theme, spirit dress-up days, and a new addition; the scavenger hunt. We set out to find out some of the views surfacing.
West’s StuCo had a few things to say about it from their perspective. StuCo treasurer and junior, Reymundo Ocampo said, “The scavenger hunt was brought up as a great idea to bolster student participation throughout HoCo week. We want our students to feel engaged and therefore we make a concerted effort to develop opportunities for students in festive weeks like Hoco. There’s always room for improvement, but for the first year, it went well. As a council, it is our goal to improve and create events, activities, and an environment for the student body to explore and enjoy. This certainly will not change next year and we would love to make another attempt at an activity like this.”
The student body had some very good things to say about it. Junior Madelyn Carter said, “I thought this was super creative and cute. The only flaw I saw would have been the little to no promotion of it and there was no explanation on how to do it either. But again, I thought it was a really fun idea.”
Decor – from the dance to the assembly, was a hit. Some students said that the scavenger hunt could have used some of that decor to help it have a better launch. Freshman Meah Villarreal said, “The decor of the dance was so creative and coordinated with this years theme.”
“However I wish there was more promotion of the scavenger hunt because it was super creative, but I literally had no idea that was going on. I really hope they do something like it again next year though,” Villarreal added.
