While most senior high school students are gearing up for their final year of high school, Jovan Guidry, is focused on earning his diploma ahead of schedule in order to dive into his dream job, real estate.
“I want to graduate early because I really don’t want to wait any longer to get out of here,” he shared. “I’m ready to start my real estate career. This path is something I can see myself being successful in and I like the idea of helping people find their homes. Plus, there’s a lot of potential to grow and be my own boss in real estate, which is music to my ears.”
Balancing school with his ambitious goals is no easy task. “It’s very hard right now,” he admitted. “I’m managing my time by keeping things organized and following a set schedule. After classes, I’ve been focusing on studying for my real estate license, which means sacrificing a lot of my free time. But it’s all about priorities. If I want to thrive in real estate, I know I have to put in a lot of effort, even if that means making sacrifices.”
Despite the challenges, Guidry remains determined. “Yes, for sure, the workload can be overwhelming,” he explained. “There are days where I feel swamped and stressed. I have to keep up with my graduation requirements while also studying for my real estate license. But I remind myself why I’m doing this, and that keeps me going.”
Looking ahead, he has clear goals. “When I graduate, my aim is to get my real estate license as soon as possible and join a local real estate company. I want to build experience with clients and master the ins and outs of this industry. Eventually, I hope to flip properties and even open my own real estate agency,” Guidry said.
What excites him most about this career? “It’s all about the freedom and the chance to grow. In real estate, there’s really no ceiling; your success is limitless as long as you’re willing to put in the hard work. Helping people find their homes is such a huge step in their lives, and it makes me really happy to play a role in that,” Guidry said.
For other students who are seeking to speed up their education and careers, he offers this advice: Stay focused and stay motivated. “It can be tempting to get caught up in distractions, but if you have a goal, don’t let anything derail you from your path. Working hard now is key to setting up a successful future,” Guidry said.
