Greeley West geometry teacher Mr. Ryan Allen is currently in the process of building a math library for his students. This math library is currently in his classroom down in B-007. This has been a project he has been working on for a while now and he is excited to begin opening it up.
Allen wants students to be be comfortable in his classroom and to be able to use resoruces to discover and understand deeper in their math classes. He started with a goal, and then got community support. The libaray has been brought to life through a donor-chosen project online. His goal is to reach all students in their own way through math. Allen stated, “The math library is a place where students can deepen their interest in different areas of mathematics that may be different from or beyond what they study in class. The goal of the library is to be a place where all students can find a connection to math.”
Allen is excited to see this project come to life and hopes it will bring more kids to like and appreciate math. “This library is a way that I hope to help more students find a connection to math and find something to love and enjoy for the rest of their lives,” Allen explained. “It’s an attempt to show them some of the different ways people see and use math that we may not cover in our normal everyday math classes. I would love to see students enjoying mathematical and creative thinking in many ways.
