The Gifted and Talented program at Greeley West debuted their new student board this week with their firs ever large group meeting run by the board.
President of the student board, Aileen Mendiola Moralez said, “I wanted the GT program to be less of a title and more of a community that helps guide its members and be something that will help you prepare for your future whether that’s college or something else.”
Gifted and talented is going to accomplish this by having one large meeting every month led by the student board on different topics of their choosing. In this way the program will move away from being monthly check in on students and their goals, and start being a community that helps each other with their future goals on a larger scale.
Gifted and Talented Specialist Ms. Tiffany Beacher said, “This was Aileen’s passion project and her goal was to create something in the building realizing that we have an amazing group of individuals who just need to feel like they belong a little bit more inside their school, because of their academic ability. Eventually we hope to have a large group of kids that can work together to create something bigger from the GT program.”
