The Medical Club at Greeley West High School is making waves by offering students a glimpse of what the world of medical care is really about. This club provides a unique opportunity for aspiring medical professionals to gain hands-on experience, engage in meaningful discussions and participate in projects.
To help students learn more about medical care and what field they are thinking about learning and being in, the club brings in guest speakers and heads out on field trips to help students understand a little more about what the medical field has to offer. “We have guest speakers that come in to talk to us about all those different fields and it’s just kind of like a pathway into the medical field or if you’re just interested in medicine,” science teacher Ms. Maria Rubio explained.
Being in a Medical Club brings more opportunities when it comes to what field you are wanting to learn more about. One of the many benefits with Medical Club is you have a choice of what field of medicine you’re wanting to be in and you get to learn about the medicine in that field. Students won’t have to worry about having limited options or worry about not having enough information about the field of medicine.
Sophomore Devyn Erickson explained that Medical Club has helped expose her with new opportunities in learning and growing for her future dream to work in the medical field after graduating college. “I want to work in the labor and delivery field,” said Erickson said.
While working on having students learn about medicine, the club also allows students to have a fun and friendly environment for after school activities. “I just thought that medical club would be a nice addition and super fun,” explained Ethan Villeda Trejo.
