Six business students at Greeley West High School scored in the top ten percent on their respective business exams this fall.
Sophomore Blake Steinmetz found an interest in business at the beginning of his freshman year when he took Leadership and Wealth Management. Steinmetz was thrilled to hear his results of the exam he took in May. “I was really proud of myself and it made me want to pursue (business) more,” Steinmetz said.
Sophomore Grace Ader has had a similar experience with business and felt very accomplished when she found out that she scored in the top ten percent on both of the exams she took. Aders’ business teacher Julie Ratliff prepared her to take the exam and earn a high score. “She prepared me really well, giving me good projects, materials, and assignments, that helped me retain all of the information in the curriculum,” stated Ader.
Ratliff knows Steinmetz and Ader to be very motivated and self-driven students, which she believes is the key to succeeding with this curriculum. “They understand how the class works and what needs to be done, not only to succeed in class itself, but that the work they do in class is preparing them for the finals,” said Ratliff.
Steinmetz plans to continue taking HSB courses throughout his high school career. He knows that these classes will be very beneficial for his future goals of starting his own business. Steinmetz stated, “ I can learn how to run a business properly, knowing about risks and expenses.”
Throughout her courses, Ader has found an interest in the marketing aspect of business and plans to pursue public relations in the future. “I plan to take a marketing class next year,” Ader said.
