Last Thursday, FFA held its November chapter meeting and members were treated to traditional Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas trivia, a tutorial on how to do the church clap dance, and the creation of a thankful tree outside of Mrs. Alexandria Grimes room.
Members were each given paper leaves and told to write down a couple things they were thankful for. Freshman Angelo Morales said, “I’m just thankful for my classmates, my family, and how my school year is going so far.”
After deciding what they were thankful for, all members hung up their leaves to make an FFA Thanksgiving tree. The tree is a special way for FFA members to start getting in the Thanksgiving spirit and hopefully it reminds others to do the same.
While members waited for their food, Grimes hosted some Thanksgiving and Christmas trivia, and taught members how to do the church clap dance. The church clap has been performed at multiple FFA events and has become a fun tradition for members to learn and perform in front of fellow peers at all kinds of FFA events.
Turkey, ham, mac n’ cheese, mashed potatoes, corn, and a variety of pies left members asking for seconds. Freshman Ruben Rivera said, “This was my first FFA meeting and it wasn’t really what I was expecting. It was a lot less serious than I thought it would be and everyone was very welcoming. My favorite part though was definitely the food.”
